This is another significant property for the same Client as the
Walled Garden at Matfen, similar internally to that scheme but
with some 6500 square feet of accommodation the property
comprises Lounge, Family Room, Dining Room, two Sun Lounges,
Breakfasting Kitchen, Utility and Cloak Room on the ground floor
with five large bedrooms and five bathrooms on the first floor
and significant open space suite on the second floor.
A detached garage built in the same style as the house is
situated in the rear garden.
Whilst the overall design of the house, built in the style of a
French Farmhouse with special brick plinth and rendered external
walls was established by the Architect, North Court has
contributed significantly to the detail, especially the complex
roof design and Sun Lounges. The roofs of the outer wings are
set down with arched lead topped dormers creating an elliptical
‘cut out’ in the sloping bedroom ceilings.
The form of the astragal bars to the windows is replicated in
the design of the Sun Lounges and internal doors, purpose made
to match and fit. The project was completed proficiently on
programme within 9 months of commencement.
